6 S9  New York State Adjutant General's Office, "War of 1812 Claims files, 1857-1861, Series A3352," digital images, Ancestry.com, New York, War of 1812 Certificates and Applications of Claim and Related Records, 1858-1869 (https://www.ancestry.com/search/collections/61602/ : accessed ).  Individuals who served in the militia or as volunteers during the War of 1812 were eligible for reimbursement for certain expenses, such as clothing and equipment. It wasn't until 1857 that a "board of commissioners" in New York were appointed to recieve and approve claims submitted by legal claimants. Series A3352, ordered numerically by claim number, consists of claim applications submitted by or in behalf of militiamen or volunteers that fought in the War of 1812.
