Death notice of Catherine Hirsch (Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, 11 Apr 1873, page 4)

Sudden Death.
Mrs. George Hirsch died very suddenly last evening of heart disease. She left her residence at a few minutes of 6 o'clock to accompany her sister to the Central depot, the latter intending to take the train west for Buffalo after a visit to her relatives here. They went by way of Main street as Andrews street was impassible and as they did not like to cross the railroad bridge. The circuitous route gave them but little time to reach the train and they walked very fast. Mrs. Hirsch, who was a very fleshy woman seemed exhausted when they reached the depot and when she parted from her sister was unable to speak. She called for a hack and being assisted into it by the driver was driven home. When the vehicle reached the residence, Mrs. Hirsch was found unconscious. After carrying her up stairs, her friends found that a slight beating of the heart was all that denoted she was still alive. Drs. Kuichling, Pateira and Carr were called, but medical aid was of no avail. The physicians found that heart disease was the cause of death. Mrs. Hirsch was thirty-five years of age and the mother of five children, the youngest of whom is under four years of age. The event is a sad one, and the more sad from the suddenness which attended it. Coroner Morrison was summoned, but after the statements of the physicians rightly deemed no formal inquest necessary.
