Diane Lutz Wilkie
Diane Lutz Wilkie passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at home in West Grove, PA after a long illness.
She was the beloved wife for over 53 years of Henry Wilkie, Jr. and will be truly missed.
Born on August 3, 1928 in Buffalo, NY to Ambrose and Helen Lutz, Diane attended Holy Angels Academy, worked at the school and volunteered at Father Baker's Home for Children.
She worked as a comptometer operator for the DuPont Company, where she met her husband.
She left DuPont to raise her children and volunteer at her church and in the community in many ways.
An avid reader, she served on the Book Selection Committee and Library Board for West Grove Library for many years as well as on the Zoning Board for London Grove Township, Ladies Auxiliary of Jennersville Hospital and at the Wilmington Flower Show.
She was very involved in her children's lives, from bake sales and sporting events to chauffeuring friends all over.
She enjoyed reading, knitting, bridge and pinochle, crossword puzzles, and most of all, her family.
In addition to her cherished husband, Diane will be lovingly remembered by her son, Robert (and Mary Lynn) Wilkie, of Elkton, MD; daughters, Roberta (and Rhett) McManus, of Oxford, PA and Robin (and Roger) Nalepa, of Newark, DE; grandchildren, Jamie and Andrea Wilkie, Pete and Mark McManus, and Mike, Drew and Katie Tolbert; and her dear sister, Audrey Hughes of Buffalo, NY; as well as extended family; and a host of friends.
Her family will receive friends at Edward L. Collins Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Pine Street, Oxford, PA on Tuesday, November 16 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm with a celebratory service following at 3:00.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Diane's memory to The Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810.
