Jail Father and Son

Town Hall police yesterday were holding James Callan, 57 years old, and his son, Preston Callan, 30, on suspicion of passing 15 bogus checks amounting to about $500. Callan, who gave his address as 22 South Clark street, was sentenced to 10 days last November on a charge of passing checks bearing the forged name of Congressman Ralph E. Church. Police said the son, who said he lives at 2016 Leland avenue, has served several sentences for check passing.
