Wilkie, Jr. Henry "Hank" Wilkie passed away Tuesday night, September 6, 2005, at home in West Grove, PA after a long illness. He was the cherished husband for over 53 years of Diane Lutz Wilkie, who preceded him in death last November. Born August 26, 1921 in Buffalo, NY, one of 5 children of Henry E., Sr. and Queenie Wilkie, Hank attended school in Williamsville, where he ran track, hunted, fished and was a Boy Scout. He attended Iowa State University, but left to enlist in the Army Signal Corps after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Army sent him to classes in radio communications at the University of Buffalo, then to active duty in Europe, where he rose to the rank of sergeant, saw action at the Battle of the Bulge, was an expert marksman, and was part of the forces that liberated concentration camps at the end of the war.
