Joan Wheeler, a native and longtime resident of this area, died Monday in a Greenwood, Ind., nursing home after a lengthy illness. She was 82.
She was born Joan Pay in Niagara Falls.
A homemaker, Mrs. Wheeler had lived in the Town of Tonawanda from approximately 1950 until 1990.
Her husband, Gerald, died in the 1990s.
Survivors include a brother, Robert Pay of Niagara Falls; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be scheduled Monday in Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls.
