F. Bentley, 226 Niagara St., last night in honor of the fathers. A fine musical program was given by Miss Florence Bradley, piano, Merle Hollinshead, violin, and E. J. Washbon, tenor. Irving Roberts gave several of his fine readings. Mayor Crosby spoke on better citizens and Albert Gay, physical director in public schools spoke on "Hurdles of Life" after which Rev. Frank Hollinshead spoke on "Better Fathers and Mothers." All speakers gave some very interesting facts. The big surprise of the evening was the supposed mock wedding which turned out to be a real one when Rev. Frank Hollinshead, pastor of the First Baptist church united in marriage Ruth E. The wedding was a big surprise and all were fooled until the last few minutes when they saw it was a bonafide affair. Announcement was made in last week's paper that this couple would be married in the near future but none expected it at this time until Rev. Hollinshead started the ceremony then they realized it was in earnest. Some handsome gifts were received by the bride and groom. The committee in charge for the evening were Mrs. Fiddler, Mrs. Bert Dennis, Mrs. Wm. Bentley and Mrs. Cotters, Mrs. Olive Cline, Mrs. Wm. Redhead. After the wedding Bert Dennis played Santa Claus and distributed gifts to each. The decorations were very artistic and colorful artificial flowers of different kinds were the work of Mrs. W. F. Here shoulder length veil was draped from a tiara of seed pearls. She carried a prayer book with an orchid and streamers to the floor. The maid of honor, the bride's cousin and only attendant, Miss Mary Alice Beakman, wore a sky blue floor length gown of taffeta made on the same lines as that worn by the bride. She carried a Colonial bouquet of pink rosebuds and baby breath. Mr. Leon Campbell, brother of the groom, was the best man. Mrs. Ida C. Beakman, aunt of the bride, wore a Copenhagen blue suit with black accessories and corsage of pink rosebuds. The groom's mother wore dark green with black accessories and corsage of yellow rosebuds. Following the ceremony a dinner for the wedding party was held at the Park hotel, Lockport. Later a reception was held in the Baptist church parlors, Sanborn. The couple left on a wedding trip to Northern Canada and the Adirondack mountains. The bride chose for traveling a wine colored suit with black accessories and orchid corsage.
