Rita H. Voght
October 18, 1920 - November 30, 2009
WOODSTOCK - Rita H. Voght, 89, of Cornfield Point and formerly of Pomfret, died Monday at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. She was born in Hammondsport, NY on October 18, 1920, daughter of the late Matthew B. and Catherine (Lewis) Heffernan. She was the wife of the late Raymond C. Voght II who died May 7, 1990. Mrs. Voght was a lifelong member of The First Congregational Church of Pomfret where she served on various committees. She was instrumental in organizing the first Girl Scout Troop in Pomfret in 1947. She served as a corporator at Day Kimball Hospital for many years and volunteered in the gift shop. She worked on the committee for the library at Pomfret Community School and was very active in the Town of Pomfret, taking great pride in its growth. She is survived by her sons, Raymond C. Voght III and his wife Marge of Lebanon, Reid N. Voght of Elgin, IL, Richard D. Voght and his wife Stephanie and family of Sparks, NV and Robert P. Voght and his wife Kathleen of Dayville; grandchildren, Raymond C. Voght IV, Teresa Voght, Christopher Voght, Richard D. Voght II, Katherine Voght, Katherine Subocz-Webb, Jason Subocz, Robert P. Voght II and Bridget Voght; three great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Webb, Caleb Subocz and Aiden Subocz and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Michelle Voght. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 11 A.M. at The First Congregational Church of Pomfret. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to The First Congregational Church of Pomfret, 13 Church Road, Pomfret Center, CT 06259 or Hospice of Northeastern CT, P.O. Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260. Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Danielson is in charge of arrangements.
